Meet the Team

Our team brings together a practical interest in residential construction, moisture management, and the details that affect foundation performance. We believe good service starts with listening, examining the available evidence, and explaining the options clearly. Our people-focused approach is intended to help homeowners understand both the immediate repair and the conditions that may matter in the future.

What We Do

The People You Will Work With

Daniel Mercer

Founder and Project Lead

Daniel founded Foundation Repair Portland after years of working around residential renovation and property maintenance in the Portland area. He is especially interested in how drainage, foundation construction, and seasonal moisture interact, and he believes homeowners should understand a repair before agreeing to it. Outside work, Daniel enjoys early walks through neighborhood parks and restoring old hand tools.

Maya Thompson

Site Assessment and Moisture Solutions

Maya focuses on the practical details that influence crawl space and basement moisture projects, including access, drainage pathways, and the condition of existing materials. She enjoys making technical information easier for homeowners to understand and keeps a notebook of recurring questions from site visits. On weekends, she likes tending a small vegetable garden and exploring local farmers markets.

Ethan Brooks

Field Operations and Repair Coordination

Ethan helps coordinate repair preparation, materials, and site work so the agreed scope is clear before a project gets underway. He pays close attention to how the work area is organized and how homeowners will access affected spaces during the project. He spends his free time cycling on regional trails and building simple woodworking projects.

How We Work Together

We begin by listening to the homeowner's concerns and asking when the symptoms appeared, whether they have changed, and how water or drainage may be involved. We then review accessible areas and the relevant site conditions to determine which next steps make sense. If the issue appears to involve substantial structural movement or requires a specialist design, we explain why further engineering or technical assessment may be needed rather than guessing at a repair.

Before work begins, we aim to clarify the proposed scope, materials, access requirements, cost factors, and any applicable permit or specialist needs. During the project, communication matters as much as preparation. If concealed conditions or other findings affect the original plan, we explain the change before proceeding with additional work. Afterward, we review any relevant operating, inspection, or maintenance considerations so homeowners understand how to care for the repaired area or installed system.
